THE TRANSPONDER car keys FOR VAUXHALLAll vehicles assembled since 1995 have a transponder immobilizer microchip intergrated into the engine management system. This means the vehicle will not start without the Vauxhall key being programmed. The Vauxhall immobilizer systems is made up of 4 different types. They all execute various functions, and it is important to know the basic configuration and the types of systems fitted.
The IMM system was the first transponder system fitted to the Vauxhall range of vehicles after the keypad system was phased out. The system is a basic electronic control unit which is made up of an immobilizer unit and transponder aerial to pick up the transponder code. The system is standardized to the GM immobilizer system, and is diagnosed and programmed in the same mode. The IMM immobilizer features in Early models of Vauxhall, from 1995 to 1998, such as Astra, Corsa, Vectra as well as first models of the Vauxhall Tigra and Zafira.
This is the next generation of alarm and immobiliser system is the CPH system that controls a number of extra components that further increase the vehicles protection system.
These are the most recent systems with the alarm and immobilisers now being merged into the body control unit.
A big transformation to the car industry in recent times has been the instauration of the built in immobilise system on all cars manufactured since 1995. This consist of placing a chip in the head of the car key, which is a small transmitter and receiver. There is an engine management scheme in the engine compartment that detects the signals sent from the key-remote. If the correct signals (remote code) are not recognised the engine will not start.
An electronic micro-chip with a permanent memory which contains an electronic code. The transponder has an antenna with which it can interact with an external electronic control twist.
Through the antenna the device sends a fixed frequency signal; the transponder obtains the signal and then transmits its electronic code through special frequency modulations, to the control twist, which can process the code.
The transponder has no external input of power supply; it receives the sufficent energy to work from the signal sent by the external control twist (inductive coupling between the control twist antenna and that of the transponder).
The Vauxhall range of car and van remotes are generic in sight at least but are not all the same. If you have a Vauxhall Astra duplication fobs and key blanks or a Vectra key fob or Zafira from 198 to 2005 they will accept the same remote key fobs. These are two button remotes for opening and closing the doors. They will have a Bosch type remote fob if the car does not have an alarm. They will have a Delphi type remote fob if the car does have an alarm. From the outside of these key fobs they look the same but they are not programmable if used on the wrong vehicle.
The key for the Vauxhall, Opel Vectra and Zafira cars have been updated since 2005, to a flick or flip key which also have two button remote functions (also, the Astra H also has a new key which is a keyless entry remote). We are able to supply Astra key blades and Corsa or Omega key blades if only this part of the key is broken. Holloway locksmiths can deal with all Vauxhall replacement car keys.
The Vauxhall Corsa 2005 key fob is a separate key range, which are also compatible with the Vauxhall Meriva. Firstly there is the simple transponder key which has no remote functions but is chipped and requires to be programmed to the vehicle in order to start the car.
The Corsa transponder keys from 2000 to 2006 are the same as Vauxhall from 2002 onwards. These remote key fobs have two button Vauxhall remote control key fob functions as do the Corsa 2005 key fob and the Vauxhall Corsa D range has the following key, GM: Corse C flip key and Corsa D flick key with 2 button Vauxhall remote control. Philips Cypto 2 ID46 transponder. (Delphi 13.188.284) Blade: Z series. The open Vectra C transponder key and all these keys are available to duplicate and Vauxhall key cutting and Vauxhall key programming is available for all models of Vauxhall old and new, if they are chipped transponder keys and key fobs or if they are pre 1995 and do not require a transponder chip and key fob programming. We are able to assist with all GM Opel and Vauxhall car keys and remote fobs. Sometimes the Vauxhall Astra key fob battery may need to be replaced. Be careful when replacing the battery that you do not drop the transponder chip from inside the key. We can also reprogram Vauxhall Astra van key and on models such as the GM Movano.
